The increasing demand for wooden housing - a market that has shown uninterrupted growth for the last 6 years - is confirmed by the recent success the “Maison Bois d’Angers” trade show.

Canadian constructors once more identified numerous promising business opportunities. Canada is well positioned to benefit from the excellent prospects offered by the buoyant French and European wood frame construction markets.
“Salon Maison Bois in Angers” has become in 2006 the reference for the wooden housing construction market with more than 32,000 visitors coming from all over France as well as neighbouring countries and an ever increasing number of exhibitors : 236 companies on 12,000 sqms.
With a delegation of 20 companies and institutional organizations, Canada - for its 7th participation - was the largest foreign presence at Salon Maison Bois with a National Pavilion coordinated by the Quebec Wood Export Bureau, Q-WEB, and BC WOOD under the Canada Wood banner.
Two Canadian conferences, organized and sponsored by the Canadian Embassy in Paris, the Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation (CMHC) and the Western Red Cedar Association highlighted Canadian excellency :
“Exploring the possibilities of the red cedar from western Canada” by Gilles Poux Berthe, Sales Manager Continental Europe, International Forest Products Limited (Interfor).
Canadian technologies. Wood Housing : an efficient industrialized and proved construction method between -40°C and + 40°C” by Alain Lombard, CMHC representative in France.
The Canadian Embassy in Paris, Industry Canada and the Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation (CMHC), welcomed numerous visitors on their Information Booth where they had the opportunity to promote the Canadian wood frame housing construction industry and identified several trade leads for Canadian exporters.
