Diplomatic Forum

The Diplomatic Forum is an annual event organized by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. It brings together Commonwealth and other foreign heads of diplomatic missions who are accredited to Canada.
The event is intended to provide these foreign heads of mission with a series of briefings on current Canadian public policy to assist them in understanding and interpreting Canada and Canadians to their respective nations. This event is also focused on current issues relating international trade.
Canada’s 13th annual Diplomatic Forum - Sept 26 to 29, 2010
The 2010 forum took place in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and focused on:
- Canada’s foreign policy priorities and leadership initiatives on the international stage;
- the global economic and financial situation; and
- Canada’s ambitious free trade and investment strategy.
Canada’s 12th annual Diplomatic Forum - Oct 6-10, 2009
The 2009 forum took place in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia and focused on:
- the successful planning of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games;
- the continued cooperation between all levels of government and the diplomatic community to ensure the 2010 Winter Games strengthens Canada’s reputation around the world;
- the global economic and financial situation and outline Canada's foreign policy priorities and leadership initiatives on the international stage, including Canada’s Arctic interests;
- Canada’s aggressive trade strategy abroad and its willingness to keep trade and investment flowing.
