Minister Day travelled to Lima, Peru, from November 19 to 23, 2008, where he attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting and took part in events on the margins of the meeting.

Minister Day meets with United States Trade Representative Susan Schwab at the Canadian Embassy in Lima, Peru. During these meetings, he reiterated the importance of bilateral cooperation, as well as open trade and investment. While meeting with his Peruvian counterpart, Trade and Tourism Minister Mercedes Aráoz, he discussed next steps for the Canada-Peru Free Trade Agreement, as well as other issues such as corporate social responsibility.
In addition, Minister Day spoke at a networking event with Canadian chief executives, hosted by the Embassy of Canada in Lima, and met with members of Junior Team Canada.
