The Government of Canada was thrilled to have the opportunity to show the world why Canada is one of the best places in which to invest, innovate, work and compete.

As part of the Government of Canada’s comprehensive investment outreach strategy, Minister Van Loan hosted a series of business roundtables and one-on-one meetings with CEOs from around the world, as well as a Global Business Leaders Day on February 22. “We want CEOs from around the world to look here for exciting new business opportunities and to know that Canada is a modern and innovative business destination,” said Minister Van Loan. He also led a site visit with media to the National Research Council Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation at the University of British Columbia to highlight Canada’s leadership in developing hydrogen technology development.

This multi-dimensional initiative showcased Canada’s competitiveness, excellence, depth of talent, innovation and creativity to media and potential investors from around the globe.

On the margins of the Olympics, Minister Van Loan also met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dimitry Kozak, responsible for Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, to discuss continued cooperation between Canada and Russia.
