Canada's Asia-Pacific Gateway Gets Stronger

February 23, 2012

Minister Fast, and Robin Silvester, president and chief executive officer of Port Metro Vancouver, announced the completion of the Brooksbank Avenue underpass project at the North Shore Trade Area (NSTA) in Vancouver, on February 22. The expansion of rail tracks at the terminal will mean more reliable and efficient services through Port Metro Vancouver.

Investments in the Asia-Pacific Gateway will:

  • help deepen Canada’s trade ties with high-growth Asia-Pacific markets;
  • create jobs, growth and prosperity for workers and families; and
  • build on Canada’s competitive advantages, and contribute to Canada’s global competitiveness.

Today, Minister Fast announced a significant ($15-million) contribution from Canada to the Ridley Island Road, Rail and Utility Corridor (RRUC) project at the Port of Prince Rupert.
