The Honourable Peter Van Loan, Minister of International Trade, joined by the Honourable Denis Lebel (Minister of State, Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec), launched a public consultation on Canada-U.S. border security and economic competitiveness on March 13 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Montreal, Quebec, respectively. The consultation follows the announcement on February 4 by Prime Minister Stephen Harper and U.S. President Barack Obama of a shared vision for the Canada-U.S. border.
