Minister Day delivered a speech on International Trade Day, in which he highlighted Canada's priorities in international trade and investment over the past year and made important announcements related to funding opportunities for Canadian business and communities.

Minister Day announced:

  • plans for Investment Cooperation, a new program designed to support responsible business investment in developing countries and thus reduce poverty and promote economic growth;
  • $2 million in funding for the Global Opportunities for Associations program, which helps Canadian national business associations extend their activities in the global economy; and
  • $3 million in funding for the Invest Canada-Community Initiatives program to help Canadian communities attract foreign investment.

Minister Day also released the latest editions of the following two annual publications:

Hosted by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, International Trade Day is an annual event that brings together the business community, senior government officials, industry stakeholders and academics to discuss issues and priorities in international trade and economics.
