Minister Day visits Ukraine, Kazakhstan and India

Minister Day today expanded Canada’s economic presence in India by opening a new trade office in Ahmedabad, in the state of Gujarat. This eighth trade office in India will help Canada to reach its objective of doubling the bilateral trade with this country over the next five years.

On September 24, the Minister ended his visit to Kazakhstan, where he made a number of announcements to advance Canada’s bilateral relationship with that country, including announcing that Canada has concluded negotiations on the text of a nuclear cooperation agreement.

Minister Day visited Ukraine on September 22 and 23 to advanced Canada’s interests in a market where Canadian exports in 2008 reached $229.7 million, an 80 per cent increase from 2007. Minister Day concluded his visit to Ukraine by announcing the signing of new Canadian-Ukrainian commercial contracts.
