
The Trade Controls & Technical Barriers Bureau (TCTBB) is responsible for administering the Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA) which was first enacted in 1947. The EIPA delegates to the Minister of Foreign Affairs wide discretionary powers to control the flow of goods contained in specified lists provided for under the Act.


The purpose of this Notice is to inform importers of the Minister’s policies and practices respecting the administration of the 10,000,000 kilogram (kg) per year tariff rate quota (TRQ) for milk protein substances (MPS) with a milk protein content of 85% or more by weight.

2011/12 Sugar-containing Products Quota Holders List

The purpose of this message is to inform industry stakeholders that quantities of tariff rate quota (TRQ) for milk protein substances (MPS) with a milk protein content of 85% or more by weight, calculated on the dry matter, that do not originate in a NAFTA country, Chile, Costa Rica, or Israel for the period of April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012 have become available.

On December 16, 2011, the Government of Canada finalized the regulatory process to amend the Export Control List. This amendment serves to control, clarify controls over and to remove from control specific items and to ensure currency of Canada’s export controls of strategic items pursuant to its multilateral obligations.

The purpose of this Notice is to inform importers of two sets of changes: to regulations and regulatory instruments under the Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA), in accordance with changes to tariff item numbers in Canada’s Customs Tariff Schedule; to Notices to Importers.
