As of January 10, 2011, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (the Department) will extend the duration of the surplus period associated with logs declared surplus to domestic needs from 120 days to 180 days.
All requests for extensions beyond this period will be reviewed and determinations will be made on a case-by-case basis. Extensions will normally only be granted in cases of last minute shipping changes beyond the exporter’s control.
More information regarding Canada’s log export controls will be/is available on the Export Controls Division’s website.
