Notice to Exporters #161, dated December 31, 2008, outlined the methodology for softwood lumber export allocations for Option B regions, including Saskatchewan, during 2009. An automated system is currently being developed to implement the new allocation methodology for Saskatchewan. This notice outlines the interim procedures for those companies wishing to apply for an export permit to export softwood lumber products first processed in the province of Saskatchewan to the United States. These procedures will apply until a subsequent notice is issued once the automated system is implemented. Companies who do not hold an export allocation for softwood lumber products first processed in Saskatchewan, or that have fully utilized their monthly allocations, will need to apply on a transaction by transaction basis for the requested export allocation to the Export and Import Controls Bureau.
