Relationship with Canada's National Contact Point

Canada's National Contact Point (NCP) for the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises - an interdepartmental committee chaired by Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada - shall remain the primary authority with respect to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

The Office of the Extractive Sector CSR Counsellor does not receive Requests for Review that pertain solely to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.  The review mechanism for the OECD Guidelines remains with the Canadian NCP.

If you wish to raise an issue that falls under the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, please direct your submission to the NCP website.

A protocol between the NCP and the Office of the CSR Counsellor governs situations where Requests for Review raise issues falling under both the OECD Guidelines for multinational enterprises and other endorsed guidelines.

To improve understanding of the way the NCP and the Office of the CSR Counsellor relate to each other, take a look at our brief, "At a Glance: Understanding the Office and Canada's NCP".
