Planning and Performance

The Report on Plans and Priorities (RPP) and the Departmental Performance Report (DPR) are prepared annually by all federal departments and agencies.

They are designed to reflect the government's citizen-focused agenda by identifying the benefits the department provides to Canadians and the real value derived for each taxpayer dollar spent.

Report on Plans and Priorities

RPPs are tabled in Parliament in March as part of the Main Estimates. The RPP is a compilation and explanation of annual business plans, and incorporates lessons learned from the previous year's experience.

Departmental Performance Reports

DPRs are tabled in the fall, usually coinciding with the reopening of Parliament. The DPR describes the department's performance against the priorities listed in the previous RPP.
