Your circular D. 2290 of December 22nd, International Trusteeship. In our view the proposed statement during the first part of the first session of the General Assembly with regard to placing mandated territories under the trusteeship system is a wise one. We are impressed with the argument that it may be desirable for the United Kingdom Government to take the initiative in this matter rather than to appear to act under pressure, and we feel that an announcement along these lines at this time would make a good impression in the United States and elsewhere. | |
