31. The Minister of Mines and Resources referred to the position of a U.S. citizen2 legally in Canada as the accredited representative of an International Trade Union who was known to be a Communist and who had been the cause of considerable trouble in certain industrial areas. Evidence had been collected which could be used in legal action for deportation against this individual under Section 3 of the Immigration Act and consideration was being given to the institution of court action in this connection.
