Main Export Destinations for Canadian Small Businesses

This figure depicts the share of the overall value of small size firm exports accounted for by a number of distinct export markets in 1999, 2008 and 2009 respectively.

The share of small size firms’ world-wide exports shipped to the U.S. was 82.4% in 1999, 74.7% in 2008 and 66.4% in 2009; the share of small size firms’ world-wide exports shipped to the EU was 5.0% in 1999, 5.6% in 2008 and 7.9% in 2009; the share of small size firms’ world-wide exports shipped to Japan was 4.0% in 1999, 2.7% in 2008 and 4.8% in 2009; the share of small size firms’ world-wide exports shipped to China was 1.4% in 1999, 3.7% in 2008 and 4.6% in 2009; the share of small size firms’ world-wide exports shipped to South Korea was 1.1% in 1999, 1.2% in 2008 and 2.1% in 2009.
