About Us

Canada, with its international reputation for top quality education, welcomes international students. Canada is also uniquely equipped to provide knowledge solutions and high quality learning products and services to the world. There has never been a better time to Study in Canada, Partner with Canada or Export Canadian education and training products and services.

In September 2006, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) launched the "Edu-Canada" unit, with the mandate to:

  • promote Canada as a study destination or education partner to international audiences;
  • facilitate relations and services between the Federal government, provinces, NGOs and Canadian missions abroad in education promotion;
  • coordinate education promotion efforts by Canadian missions abroad.

Edu-Canada is co-located with the International Education and Youth Division and aligns its efforts with other DFAIT programs such as Scholarships for international students, Understanding Canada: Canadian Studies and International Experience Canada.

Edu-Canada officers (Trade Commissioners or Public Affairs officers) are located in most Canadian missions abroad and are ready to assist Canadian public and private institutions, provinces or associations interested in recruiting international students.  You can also access Edu-Canada PRO for online reports and our Education Promotion Event Calendar.
