    In 1917, when the city of Halifax was devastated by the tragic explosion of a cargo ship loaded with wartime ammunition, the Boston community rallied to aid the Canadian survivors.     In 1927, human remains were removed from an abandoned Moravian church mission as part of the Rawson-MacMillan Sub-Arctic Expedition. At the behest of the Labrador Inuit community, the Field Museum of Natural History that had since housed the remains undertook to return them to their native soil.
