According to the latest data provided by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development(OECD), the global number of employed scientific researchers rose by two million over the past decade. With the proliferation of scientific knowledge, the risk of terrorist of terrorist organizations acquiring sensitive, weapons and materials of mass destruction (WMD)-applicable expertise is a pressing threat to global security. The Global Partnership Program’s Scientist Engagement Portfolio (SEP) works to address the human dimension of WMD proliferation by broadening the coordination and engaging the global scientific community to promote a culture of awareness, integrity, and accountability to mitigate the risks associated with the misuse or misdirection of sensitive scientific knowledge.
