Minister Cannon to Sign Double Taxation Agreement with Greece
(No. A/66 - June 28, 2009) The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will sign tomorrow the Convention between the Hellenic Republic and Canada for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital.
The main purpose of this tax treaty is to reduce tax barriers to trade and investment. It will ensure that Canadian and Greek taxpayers who invest or do business in each other’s countries do not pay the same kind of tax to both governments.
