House of Commons to Debate Extending Libyan Mission

(No. A/36 - June 13, 2011) John Baird, Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister, the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, and Lois Brown, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation, on behalf of the Honourable Beverley J. Oda, will lead the debate in support of the motion to extend Canada's engagement in Libya.

The motion (found in the Government Business section of the Notice Paper) will be considered during a day-long debate, which begins with a speech by Minister Baird at approximately 10:15 a.m. ET. The speech will include important policy statements.

Ministers Baird and MacKay, and Parliamentary Secretary Brown, will also be available to media after the motion is voted upon. The vote is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. ET.
