Virginie Saint-Louis becomes Ambassador to the Republic of Mali.

Virginie Saint-Louis (BA [Economics], Université de Moncton, 1983; MA [Economics - International Development], Université de Grenoble, 1985; Ph.D. [Political Science - International Relations], Université de Paris - Sorbonne, 1988) joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1989 and was assigned to the Canadian Embassy in Cairo in 1991 as second secretary. Ms. Saint-Louis then accepted the position of program head in the Political and Public Affairs Section at the Canadian Embassy in Hanoi. At Headquarters, she has performed the duties of desk officer in the United Nations and Commonwealth Affairs Division and in the Economic Summit Coordination Division. From 2000 to 2004, she held two successive positions at the Privy Council Office, first as foreign policy advisor reporting to the diplomatic advisor to the Prime Minister and the Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet in the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat, and then as head of Foreign Intelligence in the Security and Intelligence Secretariat. Ms. Saint-Louis most recently served as counsellor and program head in the Political and Public Affairs Section at the Canadian Embassy in Rabat. Ms. Saint-Louis succeeds Isabelle Roy.
