(No. 291 - October 5, 2009 - 12:30 p.m. EDT) The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today met with David Jacobson, the new U.S. ambassador to Canada, in Ottawa.
“I had the opportunity to welcome Ambassador Jacobson to Ottawa,” said Minister Cannon. “We had a productive exchange on the importance of the Canada-U.S. relationship and our respective priorities for the coming year.
“The arrival of a new U.S. ambassador presents an opportunity for our two nations to build on their ongoing cooperation on shared priorities and challenges, both within North America and globally. Canada and the United States have strong ties at many levels and a broad range of shared interests. Beyond enjoying the world’s largest trading relationship, our two countries are neighbours, friends and allies—linked politically, economically, environmentally and socially.”
