Minister of State Kent to Promote Relations with Panama and Ecuador

(No. 259 - August 16, 2010 - 2:10 p.m. ET) The Honourable Peter Kent, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas), today announced that he will visit Panama and Ecuador from August 17 to 21, 2010.

“This trip provides a valuable opportunity to reinforce Canada’s engagement with two increasingly important partners in the Americas,” said Minister of State Kent. “By strengthening relationships and working with key countries, such as Panama and Ecuador, Canada continues to advance democratic governance, prosperity and security throughout the hemisphere.”

While in Panama and Ecuador, Minister of State Kent will meet with government, civil society and business leaders. The key objectives of the trip include strengthening cooperation on shared security challenges, promoting greater trade and investment, and supporting democratic governance in the region.
