It provides an opportunity to discuss with the Government of Pakistan and other partners how best to support efforts to improve development and stability in Pakistan,” said Minister Cannon. “In addition, the ministerial meeting represents an opportunity to discuss preliminary planning for rehabilitation and reconstruction in the wake of the floods.”
Formed in 2008, the Friends of Democratic Pakistan comprises 26 member states and observing institutions which convene to coordinate high-level strategic support for Pakistan’s long-term stability, and to express international solidarity with the people of Pakistan in building a stable, democratic and prosperous country.
On October 14 in Brussels, Minister Cannon will participate with the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, in the NATO Foreign Affairs and Defence Ministerial Meetings.
