Canada Condemns Terrorist Attack in Russia

(No. 342 - October 20, 2010 - 4:50 p.m. ET) The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement condemning yesterday’s terrorist attack in Grozny, Russia:

“Canada strongly condemns the brazen terrorist attack that took place yesterday against the Chechen parliament in the city of Grozny.

“We extend our condolences and deepest sympathy to the families of those killed in the attack, and we wish the injured a quick recovery.

“Canada remains very concerned about the ongoing violence in the North Caucasus region.

“No circumstances justify this cowardly act of terrorism. Canada stands united with Russia in the fight against international terrorism.”
