"Canada strongly condemns today's terrorist attack against the United Nations offices in the Nigerian capital of Abuja. This type of violence is totally unacceptable.
"On behalf of all Canadians, I offer my sympathies to the victims of this attack and their families.
"We are grateful to learn that the two Canadians working at this facility are reported to be safe.
"The Government of Canada firmly supports the people and the Government of Nigeria in their efforts to bring about a secure, stable, unified and democratic country."
