Biographical Notes

Sara Hradecky (BA [International Affairs], Carleton University, 1981; MA [International Affairs], Carleton University, 1983; MSc [Aeronautical Science], Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 2004) joined the Department of External Affairs in 1983 and has since served abroad in Buenos Aires, Belgrade and Tel Aviv. She also served as Canada’s consul general in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. At headquarters she has served as director, International Financing and as director general, International Business Development, Policy and Innovation. From 2006 to 2009, Ms. Hradecky was Canada’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. She most recently served as assistant deputy minister for the Afghanistan Task Force in the Privy Council Office. Sara Hradecky succeeds Guillermo Rishchynski.
