Canada Strongly Condemns Recent Attacks in Nigeria
April 26, 2012 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:
“Canada strongly condemns today’s attacks on prominent media outlets in Nigeria.
“In my meeting with my Nigerian counterpart, earlier this week, I reiterated Canada’s commitment to strengthening security cooperation between our two countries. Canada has strong ties to Nigeria and the two countries share the values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
“Canada urges all people in Nigeria to work with the government in bringing to justice those responsible for these terrible crimes.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those killed in these attacks, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
