Baird Extends Condolences to Iranian People in Wake of Earthquake
August 11, 2012 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:
“On behalf of all Canadians, including large Persian and Azeri communities in Canada, I extend our deepest sympathies to the Iranian people as they cope with a devastating earthquake in northwestern Iran.
“We extend our sincere condolences to those who have lost family members, friends and fellow Iranians. We also wish those injured in this disaster a speedy recovery.
“The people of Iran are resilient when faced with adversity, and it is our hope they recover quickly from this devastating event.”
