September 8, 2012 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:
“Canada strongly condemns today's deadly terrorist attack in Kabul. As we work to establish the facts, our thoughts are with the loved ones of those killed and we pray for a speedy recovery for the injured.
“Reports that a child was used to kill innocents, including children, only highlight the depravity of terrorist factions in Afghanistan today—and their cowardice.
“Canada is proud of its support of the people of Afghanistan in their fight to build a peaceful, democratic country that respects the fundamental human rights of the Afghan people.
“We will continue to work to ensure that Afghanistan never again becomes a safe haven for terrorists.
“Canada remains in close contact with our partners in NATO's International Security Assistance Force.
“All Canadian personnel have been accounted for and are safe.”
