Baird Concerned over China’s Announcement of Air Defence Identification Zone

December 2, 2013 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:

“I am concerned by China’s announcement that it has unilaterally established an air defence identification zone over the East China Sea.

“The timing and tone of this announcement are unhelpful in light of current regional tensions and will not contribute to regional stability.

“Canada is following these developments closely and is consulting with all of its regional partners.”
