Canada Condemns Attack on Iraqi Foreign Affairs Ministry

February 5, 2014 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today released the following statement:

“Canada strongly condemns today’s attacks in Baghdad, including the one targeting the Iraqi foreign affairs ministry. On behalf of all Canadians, I wish to express condolences to the families of those killed and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

“These despicable acts are aimed at deterring the Iraqi people from the challenge of establishing democratic and state institutions. We stand with them in their efforts to build a brighter future.

“These acts will only strengthen our resolve to support Iraq’s reconstruction and to combat terrorism in all its forms.”
