Statement on Deadly Attack in Urumqi, China
May 22, 2014 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today released the following statement concerning the deadly terrorist bombing in Urumqi, the latest in a series of violent attacks in western China:
“Canada condemns today’s deadly bombing in a crowded market in Urumqi, China, which claimed the lives of at least 31 people and wounded more than 90 others.
“Violent acts targeting innocent civilians are appalling and should be condemned by all.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I extend my deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones and wish a full recovery to the injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
