Baird Promotes Canada’s Stance Against Sexual Violence at Global Summit in London

June 11, 2014 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today announced that he will participate in the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict on June 12 and 13, 2014, in London, United Kingdom.

“The time is now for the world to take action against sexual violence in conflict,” said Baird. “I look forward to bringing to the table Canada’s approach to eliminating child, early and forced marriage and advancing women’s political and economic empowerment.”

At the summit, Baird will chair the ministerial dialogue entitled Improving International and National Action to Address Accountability.

Also during the summit, on June 12, Baird will attend a foreign ministers meeting on Nigeria and will meet with Zlatko Lagumdžija, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
