Minister Dion to host North American Foreign Ministers Meeting
January 21, 2016 - Ottawa, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada
The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that he will host his counterparts from the United States and Mexico in the city of Québec, Quebec, on January 29, 2016, at the North American Foreign Ministers Meeting.
The North American Foreign Ministers Meeting is an opportunity for the foreign ministers of the United States, Mexico and Canada to take stock of trilateral cooperation on a number of issues of shared interest.
This year, Minister Dion, John Kerry, U.S. Secretary of State, and Claudia Ruiz Massieu, Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, will review efforts to strengthen their countries’ cooperation on climate change, clean energy and the environment. They will also explore opportunities for greater collaboration on regional and global issues, enhancing security cooperation and improving North American competitiveness by reducing impediments to trade between the three countries.
“I am looking forward to hosting Secretary of State John Kerry and Foreign Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu at the North American Foreign Ministers Meeting in Québec on January 29.”
