Minister Baird Meets with Mongolia's Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister, Gombojav Zandanshatar

John Baird, Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister, meets with Gombojav Zandanshatar, Mongolia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, on July 23, 2011, on the margins of the ASEAN Regional Forum and Post Ministerial Conference in Indonesia. This was the first meeting between the two ministers. Minister Baird advocated for the expeditious conclusion of the Canada-Mongolia Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, currently being negotiated.
Minister Baird also took the opportunity to highlight the progress that had been made in bilateral cooperation aimed at sustaining economic growth and strengthening governance institutions and practices. This progress builds on that achieved during the visit to Canada by Mongolia's Prime Minister Sükhbaatar Batbold in September 2010.
