Minister Baird Meets New Libyan Chargé d’Affaires

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird meets with Abubaker Karmos, the new chargé d’affaires ad interim at the Embassy of Libya in Canada, in Ottawa on August 25, 2011. Mr. Karmos was appointed by the National Transitional Council (NTC) of Libya.  
 
Mr. Karmos presented Minister Baird with the new NTC flag, which will be put on display among other nations’ flags in the lobby of the main Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada building in Ottawa. Minister Baird reaffirmed the Government of Canada’s support for the National Transitional Council in developing governance and democratic institutional reforms.
