Minister Baird Hosts Association of Southeast Asian Nations Representatives

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird hosts a luncheon for heads of missions of members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada headquarters in Ottawa on September 13, 2011.
Canada has a deep, long standing relationship with ASEAN. In 2012, Canada and the association will celebrate 35 years of diplomatic relations.
During the luncheon, Minister Baird discussed the economy and how Canada and ASEAN can work together to secure future economic prosperity. The Minister and his ASEAN partners also discussed common security concerns and ways to ensure human rights are protected and enhanced throughout the region.
