Minister Baird Meets Norwegian Counterpart in New York City

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird meets with Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre at the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, on September 21, 2011.
This was the first face-to-face meeting between the two ministers. Minister Baird spoke by phone with Minister Støre in July shortly after the tragic events in Utøya and Oslo to express Canada's deep sadness and offer sincere condolences.
Today, they discussed a broad range of issues, including the unilateral Palestinian statehood initiative, Arctic issues and the importance of Canada’s oil sands to the country’s future prosperity.
