As the second anniversary of the tragic earthquake that devastated large parts of the country passed, Minister Baird took the opportunity to express to the President Canada’s continued commitment to the people of Haiti.
The two also discussed the political situation in Haiti. Minister Baird urged the President to focus on political stability, including by maintaining open dialogue between the executive and legislative branches of government. They also discussed the President’s plans for the implementation of his priority of strengthening the rule of law, which is also a priority in Canada’s engagement in Haiti.
