January 29, 2012 - Jerusalem - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird meets with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem as part of a series of high-level meetings.
Baird reiterated that Canada will not accept to stay silent while the Jewish state is attacked for defending its territory or its people.
Baird also discussed Canada and Israel’s shared economic priorities, such as leveraging private-sector support for research and development so that innovation can thrive.
Canada’s ties with Israel are very deep, and friendship is important. Building on these ties and looking at opportunities to expand our trade relationship is a priority for the government in its commitment to creating jobs, growth and prosperity for both of our countries in the years ahead.
