Minister Baird Meets with Shwe Mann, Burmese Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw
March 8, 2012 - Naypyidaw - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird delivers Canadian books on parliamentary procedure, federalism and democracy to the Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw (House of Representatives) of Burma, Shwe Mann.
The Speaker is interested in strengthening the role of parliament, and these books will help build the new Burmese parliamentary library collection. The books were donated by Canada’s Library of Parliament and Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada.
