May 17, 2012 - Ottawa - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today met with Carl Bildt, Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, in Ottawa to discuss the upcoming NATO Summit in Chicago, the situation in Afghanistan and the two countries’ common interests and engagement in Arctic matters.
During the visit, the ministers discussed the value of working together as like-minded nations and key Arctic partners.
Both countries are founding members of the Arctic Council. Sweden is its current chair. Canada will assume that role in 2013.
