Baird Welcomes Moroccan Counterpart
June 4, 2012 - Ottawa - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird welcomes Saad Dine El Otmani, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, to Ottawa. The two discussed Canada-Morocco relations and recent developments in the Middle East and North Africa.
The year 2012 marks 50 years of bilateral relations between Canada and Morocco.
Last month, Canada and Morocco signed a memorandum of understanding paving the way for greater cooperation in the agricultural sector. Canada and Morocco are also negotiating a bilateral free trade agreement to expand commercial relations between Canada and Morocco. This would be Canada’s first free trade agreement with an African country.
