June 28, 2012 - New York - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today announced up to an additional $8 million contribution in support of capacity-building projects designed to enhance counter-terrorism cooperation globally.
Baird made the announcement at the United Nations in New York during the third biennial review of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, where he reinforced Canada’s commitment to implementing the Strategy and urged other countries to continue building resilience against terrorism.
“While our capacity to counter threats on all fronts has increased significantly over the past decade, the threat of terrorism persists and evolves,” said Baird. “So the fight against terrorism continues and must also evolve.
“In this ongoing struggle, it is important for the nations and the citizens of the world to keep faith. We must maintain hope. We will prevail.”
