Baird Attends Meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group in New York
September 28, 2012 - New York City - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird attended today the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group meeting with his Australian counterpart.
Baird reiterated that Canada wants to see a reformed and renewed Commonwealth with the capacity to protect human rights and uphold Commonwealth values.
Canada is a strong supporter of the Commonwealth and is its second-largest contributor. During the meeting, Baird took the opportunity to highlight the leadership of Senator Hugh Segal, Canada’s Special Envoy for Commonwealth Renewal, on the reform and renewal of the Commonwealth.
