December 4, 2012 - Brussels - Bob Dechert, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (second from left, bottom row), is representing Canada at meetings at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) headquarters in Brussels from December 4 to 5, 2012.
Today, Allies called upon Assad to end the violence in Syria and expressed support for efforts by the international community to find a peaceful solution to the crisis. They also expressed grave concern regarding reports that the Syrian regime may be considering the use of chemical weapons.
At the meetings, Mr. Dechert will also reiterate Canada’s ongoing support for the security transition in Afghanistan.
Canada is a key player in NATO. The country’s participation in NATO operations around the world is a strong signal of its belief in, and commitment to, the transatlantic alliance.
