Baird Meets with Singaporean Counterpart
March 11, 2013 - Singapore - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird meets Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Law of Singapore during a 3-country visit to Asia - his seventh as Foreign Minister - in Singapore, Monday, March 11, 2013. The two discussed Canada-ASEAN relations, and the strong ties that exist between Canada and Singapore.
"Canada is redoubling our engagement in Asia and Singapore is a key market in those efforts," said Baird. "Canada values its strong and wide-ranging relations with Singapore, which include cooperation on economic and security issues, and strong people-to-people ties."
Baird is travelling to Singapore, Vietnam, and Hong Kong to strengthen bilateral relations, project Canadian values, and diversify Canada's trade relations in the Asia-Pacific region.
