Baird Meets Jordanian Counterpart, Nasser Judeh

March 31, 2013 - Amman, Jordan - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird meets with his Jordanian counterpart, Nasser Judeh.

The meeting coincided with the opening of a new Canadian embassy building in Amman—an expression of Canada’s commitment to long-term friendship with Jordan.

The two men discussed the two countries' strong bilateral relationship, and ways to strengthen it further. They also discussed the crisis raging in neighbouring Syria, and Jordan's important contribution to the humanitarian response.

Jordan is a close friend and ally in the region, and Canada welcomes its efforts to support Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. Jordan has consistently demonstrated leadership in the pursuit of a lasting peace and long-term prosperity in the Middle East.
